Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is centered around inclusion and active engagement in the classroom. Every student is as unique as the slightest turn of a kaleidoscope. In response to this, my goal as a teacher is to ensure that each and every one of my students feels welcome and at home in the learning environment we create in the classroom. Cultivating a classroom culture that is supportive and accepting is one component of the environment that is necessary for this. Incorporating student choice is an element to be included in order to increase engagement and intrinsic motivation of students in the classroom. I want each and every one of my students to leave my classroom with the knowledge of their dignity as a human being, the value that they bring to the world, and their ability to achieve anything that they choose to pursue.
Classroom Management
My classroom management philosophy is based on my desire for students to always feel as though my classroom is a safe and welcoming place to be. My classroom will be a space where they can feel free to make mistakes without fear of being penalized. Students will know what is expected of them in the classroom. Learning classroom procedures will greatly aid in the understanding of classroom expectations. I believe active engagement is another aspect of the classroom environment that is very important. Ensuring that I know my students well enough to engage them each and every day is vital for this. Every aspect of my classroom management philosophy is founded on ensuring that students are able to feel as successful as possible in my classroom.
